Programme Note

Reverberated Breath transfers control of piano resonance to a clarinettist positioned beside the open instrument. Clarinet sound activates sympathetic vibration in the strings, while the Extended Pedal allows the same performer to control the dampers without returning to the keyboard position.

Breath and resonance therefore form one continuous action. The piano does not accompany the clarinet; it receives, filters and prolongs it as a remote acoustic body whose reverberation remains directly shaped by the wind player.
