Deux souffles enlacés grew from the Villa Salammbô research residency in Tunis. It places the traditional nay beside the Naylute, a hybrid instrument that brings together aspects of Arabic and Western flute-making.

Whistles, near-silent air, leaks, voice and rolled-tongue sounds intertwine with guided and free improvisation. Modal colours and maqâm-related inflections enter into dialogue with Western modes, allowing two instrumental breaths and two traditions of listening to meet without being reduced to a single language.
