Programme Note

Quatre fragments d’un rêve offers four discontinuous images of dreaming: mystery, tenderness, agitation and sudden brilliance. Rather than following a continuous narrative, the movements behave like fragments of memory whose colours and emotional states return in altered form.

The opening moves between distant calm, unease and brief eruptions before a dolce amoroso introduces a more intimate, uncertain space. The following fragments move through almost weightless softness, more agitated transformations and distant, childlike resonances, allowing contrasting states to appear and dissolve without forming a continuous narrative.

In the final fragment, brightness and energy gradually re-emerge, but the return is never completely stable. The boundaries between memory, dream and waking remain porous, leaving the cycle suspended between regained clarity and the lingering instability of what has just disappeared.
