Circle(s) — Recording Session at ARSONIC

Cellist Jeanne Maisonhaute records Circle(s) for amplified cello at ARSONIC in Mons as part of the Souffles. Traverser l’écho recording project.

On 25 May 2027, cellist Jeanne Maisonhaute will record Martin Loridan’s Circle(s) (2018) at ARSONIC in Mons, Belgium.

Written for amplified cello, the work explores circular gestures and changing points of friction through playing with one and two bows. Amplification reveals fragile transitions between gesture, noise, harmonics and unstable pitch.

The recording is part of Souffles. Traverser l’écho, a project devoted to the relationships between breath, instrumental friction and resonance in Loridan’s music.
